New Delhi: With a total net worth of $79.2 billion (nearly Rs 5.78 lakh crore), Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani is now the world’s 11th richest person.
According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ambani has moved up two spots to achieve the position.
The Reliance Industries Ltd chairman, who surpassed Oracle Corporation Co-founder Larry Ellison and world’s richest woman Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, is the only Indian to feature in the list of top 36 richest billionaires.
This as Reliance Industries Limited profit soared during the last quarter of 2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier on Friday, Reliance Industries Limited reported 12.5 percent year-on-year growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 13,101 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2020.
“At a time when the Indian economy is poised for a confident recovery, we at Reliance are humbled that we have been able to contribute to it with our company’s impressive performance in the third quarter of FY21,” Ambani said.
With a net worth of $202 billion, Tesla CEO Elon Musk remains the richest man in the world. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Louis Vuitton SE Group head Bernard Arnault and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg are the other four billionaires to figure in the top five.
